Morgan Charriere Falls Short in Paris

Morgan Charriere had the Paris crowd behind him, but Felipe Lima took the cleaner path through their three-round featherweight fight. Lima earned a unanimous decision in the final bout of the UFC Paris preliminary card, winning 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28 at Accor Arena. The verdict left little room for argument even though Charriere continued looking for ways to turn the fight in front of his home support.

Charriere tried to take the initiative and push the exchanges, particularly as the contest developed. Lima was more precise at range and consistently found the first useful connection. That difference allowed the Brazilian to control the rhythm without needing a knockdown or a dramatic final-round escape.

The loss is frustrating for Charriere because the setting offered a perfect stage for momentum. He was competing in France, closing the prelims and carrying one of the loudest followings on the card. Instead, the evening became a demonstration of how quickly volume and accurate positioning can blunt the emotional advantage of a home crowd.

Lima won the battle for distance

Lima’s most reliable work came when he kept Charriere at the end of his attacks. He targeted the lead leg, used straight punches and moved before the Frenchman could build combinations. Charriere advanced, but forward movement did not always translate into effective offense. Lima was often the fighter landing first and leaving the exchange on his own terms.

It was also an important return for Lima after a 15-month absence. He entered the night needing to re-establish himself in the featherweight division, and doing so against a popular French opponent required composure. The crowd reacted to every Charriere advance, yet Lima maintained the same measured pace through the final horn.

Charriere now has adjustments to make

Charriere’s willingness to move forward remains one of the qualities that makes him compelling. Against Lima, however, aggression alone could not solve the range problem. He needed more ways to cut off the exit, draw a predictable response and turn his pressure into combinations rather than isolated attempts.

The defeat should not be turned into an invented forecast about Charriere’s UFC future. No next opponent or schedule has been announced. What the fight does provide is a specific technical lesson: when a mobile opponent is landing first, simply increasing pursuit can create more opportunities for counters unless the cage is being closed deliberately.

Paris gave Charriere energy, visibility and urgency. Lima answered all three with accuracy. The local favorite remained engaged until the end, but he could not produce the decisive moment that would have changed the judges’ reading of the contest.
